SUMMARY:c.7.1 miles Saltaire (Salts Mill) to Shipley Glen walk
DESCRIPTION:The walk will start from the free car park at Salts Mill at 9:30am. Please park near the entrance (the glazed entrance up some steps) to the mill or walk to there to meet up ready to walk. There are toilets in Salts Mill\, which opens at 9:30am on Saturday\, so we’ll wait for anyone who needs to use them.  \n\n\n\nhttps://www.saltsmill.org.uk \n\n\n\nAs usual\, we are going to eat in The Boathouse Pub. It overlooks the river\, serves a good choice of food and is happy to accommodate us. They haven’t required a deposit in the past\, but we do a pre-order. So please have a look at the menu and let me know what you would like for lunch. https://theboathouseinn.co.uk/ \n\n\n\nHere’s the menu: https://theboathouseinn.co.uk/our-food/    – 2 pages to look at. \n\n\n\nWe leave the car park and walk down to the canal and then along newly laid path at the start\, all the way to Bingley Five Rise Locks. We then cross the canal and start a climb uphill on this path. We walk along ginnels between houses and some lovely old lanes. There are lots of woods on this walk too. On one occasion we saw a kingfisher on what must have been an old millpond. There are a few roads to cross and pavements by roads we have to walk up for short sections. One notable track descends by a field and had clearly had a stream running down it in wet weather. It had old cobbles set in it and could be quite slippery. Care will need to be taken on this section. You may find a pole useful on this. Personally\, I’m not planning to take my poles. \n\n\n\nWe may encounter some muddy stretches on this walk\, if we have any rain between now and then. I can’t recall any stiles on this walk. There was no livestock either.

SUMMARY:c.6.7 miles Nidd Gorge Walk from Knaesborough
DESCRIPTION:The walk will start from the Conyngham Hall car park next to the river in Knaresborough at 9:15am. See attached map for postcode and charges. This is a pay and display car park – you should pay for at least 4 hours (£3.60).  It may be advised to take cash as well as a card. There is a free public toilet at the entrance to the car park\, which we will pass as we start the walk. \n\n\n\nThe route crosses the river and follows the path of the Beryl Burton cycle trail along the other side of the river\, flat initially and then steadily climbing. We leave the good path and cross some fields\, going through some stables where we usually encounter horses. There’s a very short narrow steep little path that we take to get down on to a disused railway line. This steep path can be slippery\, so a pole is advised. The disused railway line path is wide and flat\, and we go along it to the viaduct across the Nidd\, where there are some good views. We come back very slightly\, walk along the edge of a field\, and then descend into the Nidd Gorge. The paths are earth on this section and reasonably steep\, again a pole is very useful here. When we get down to the river there’s a variety of paths under the trees\, including the boardwalks that can be slippery after wet weather. We meander along by the river for a while and can sometimes see a kingfisher. Then there’s the climb back of the gorge. This is the steepest section\, and we’ll all get out of breath. Once at the top\, there’s a good path and we re-join the Beryl Burton Way again back down to Knaresborough. \n\n\n\nThe plan is to reserve tables at the Ugly Duckling café which is on the edge of the car park we use.       https://www.theuglyducklingknaresborough.co.uk/ \n\n\n\nThis café has recently been sold but the new owners are happy to take our booking but would like a pre-order\, so please have a look at the attached menus and let me know what you would like. Thanks

SUMMARY:c. 7.3 miles Goit Stock Waterfalls & Hewenden Viaduct walk
DESCRIPTION:The walk will start from the car park at Woodbank Nurseries\, Harden Road\, Bingley\, BD16 1BE at 9:30am  \n\n\n\n\nContact / Find Us\n\n\n\n\nAs it’s a large carpark\, I suggest we all park on the right-hand side as you drive into the car park – up against the fence boundary. This is a free car park. We can use the toilets in the garden centre before the walk\, but please make sure you arrive early enough to do this. It opens at 9am.The walk starts along a few roads\, with pavements\, before we join a quieter lane which passes houses and joins Harden Beck. We entre Goit Stock Wood and waterfalls of differing sizes. It’s a lovely route – trees and water\, fabulous in my book. We pass a mill complex; now apartments and walk along their access road before more trees and a stretch above a steep wooded bank. We get our first view of the Hewenden viaduct around now. We cross the B6144 and then approach the viaduct and eventually pass under the arches. There’s a short steep section as we have to reach the path which goes over the viaduct. There are great views over Hewenden reservoir at this point too.  \n\n\n\nThe path over the viaduct is called the Great Northern Trail and is the route of an old railway line. If you’re tall enough (I’m not!)  you will be able to look over the walls to see the view! After crossing the viaduct\, we walk down a lane and enter more woodland. We walk on lanes\, pavements and through fields before entering the St Ives Estate where we walk by a pond and then descend through more woods and join a lane back to Harden Road\, which we cross to arrive back at Woodbank Nurseries. \n\n\n\nThe Potting Shed café\, in the garden centre\, would like us to do a pre-order\, so please have a look at the attached menu and let me know what you would like to eat. They also do homemade soup with homemade bread but can’t tell us until a couple of days before what flavour it might be.There were some very muddy sections near stiles today and previously it was very muddy through the woods near the waterfalls. There is a variety of stiles on this walk and there may be livestock in the fields. There were horses today.

SUMMARY:c. 7.9 miles walk from Roebuck Inn
DESCRIPTION:The walk will start from the Roebuck Inn car park at 8:30am sharp. We have to be at our table between 12 and 12:15 latest \n\n\n\nPlease park at the furthest point from the road in the gravelled area. The address is Roebuck Terrace\, Otley LS21 2EY. \n\n\n\nWe will leave the Roebuck car park and head uphill for a short distance before taking a footpath on the left which leads across several fields before joining the road into Clifton. We pass through Clifton and follow the road until it crosses the road out of Otley. We find a path on the right which cross fields and eventually comes out near Dob Park. We will walk down the lane all the way to Dob Park bridge\, which is a beautiful old packhorse bridge. We cross over the River Washburn here to walk on the other side of the river. We cross back over the river after a while and walk along to come out at the bridge at the end of Lindley Reservoir. We cross the bridge over the reservoir and walk along the edge of Lindley woods with the reservoir on our right. At Cinder Lane we turn right and ascend until we meet a footpath which takes us across the B6451 and climbs to Haddockstones Farm. It’s then a short walk back to Newell Carr Road and a short descent on the footpath by that road to the Roebuck. If it’s a nice day there are some lovely views on this walk.

SUMMARY:c7.4 miles circular walk from Bramhope
DESCRIPTION:The walk will start from the car park near the tennis courts in Bramhope at 9:00am.  There is a toilet here. \n\n\n\nWe’ll walk along Old Lane and then cut off to the left down a path which runs alongside a farm and the recreation ground. The path goes across fields where there may be horses and sheep. We cross Occupation Lane and take a path which goes down to a stream and then up to reach Otley Old Lane\, which we cross. We cut through Greengates Farm and then follow the path to Harrogate Road. We need to take great care crossing this road. The path takes us through East Carlton and then climbs steadily towards the Chevin. We’ll walk through the edge of the Yorkgate Plantation and past the back of the Chevin Hotel to cross the Yorkgate Road. Then we’re on the Chevin. We’ll walk along to Surprise View and then descend towards the top of the Chevin Steps\, but we’re not going down them. We’ll turn right and head in a zig zag towards the car park on East Chevin Road. We’ll cross that road\, walk down the footpath for a bit and enter the Chevin Forest again. We’ll have a bit of an ascent to reach the Mistal Barn\, where we’ll stop for lunch. Then it’s a pretty easy walk back into Bramhope through the woods\, along some of the Dales Way. We’ll cross the Harrogate Road again\, near Hilton Grange and make our way back to the carpark.
